Dr. BR Ambedkar’s full name is Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar. Every year Ambedkar Jayanti is celebrated on 14th April in Honour of Dr. BR Ambedkar. On 14th April 1891, Dr. Ambedkar was born in a low caste family. In India, on 14th April every year, all Indians celebrate Ambedkar Jayanti with full enthusiasm.
On 14th April 2021, it will be the 130th birthday anniversary celebration of Dr. Ambedkar, so definitely it will be going too big. Every year people gather around and celebrate Ambedkar Jayanti will full energy. Functions, rallies are also organized on large scale to show the work and lifestyle of Dr. BR Ambedkar. Our Prime minister Shri Narendra Modi also gives valuable speeches on that occasion every year.
Last year we didn’t celebrate Ambedkar Jayanti due to the corona Pandemic, but this year it will going to be great.
Why we celebrate Ambedkar Jayanti ?
Dr. BR Ambedkar was born in a low caste family, as we all know. After getting discriminated against due to low caste, he decided to do some work for the minor community. Ambedkar Jayanti is celebrated by the people of India very happily to remember his immense contributions to the poor people of India.
Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar is the father of the Indian Constitution who had drafted the Constitution of India. He knows that if minors didn’t get equal rights in the nation then it will going to be great trouble for them in the future.
He had established “Bahishkrit Hitkarini Sabha” to show the necessity of education and enhancing the economic status of low people. He also uses the Slogans to show the necessity of education for the low people of India.
He also led the march for untouchables in the year 1927 in Mahad, Maharashtra so that low society will not be differentiated in terms of caste and religion. This movement was coming into existence when Dr. BR Ambedkar saw the ground reality of low people that they are not allowed to drink water from the public well.
Dr. BR Ambedkar also started the movement against the Temple entry system. In older days, low society people are not allowed to enter the temple. Dr. BR Ambedkar feels so disturbed after watching all these incidents and decided to do something for the minor community. Dr. BR Ambedkar started the Temple entry movement in the year 1930 in Kalaram Temple, Nashik, Maharashtra, demanded equal rights for low people in every field.
All the movements and hard work were done by Dr. BR Ambedkar helped the low people to become economically good or financially independent.
Due to all this work, Dr. BR Ambedkar received Bharat Ratna in April 1990. That’s why we celebrate Ambedkar Jayanti and remember Dr. BR Ambedkar for all his hard work done for low people.
How Ambedkar Jayanti is Celebrated ?
Ambedkar Jayanti is celebrated across the world and in various parts of India with full energy and enthusiasm. In India, Ambedkar Jayanti is celebrated in various big cities like Varanasi, Delhi. People wear new dresses, organize functions, events, quizzes, and several sports activities.
On Ambedkar Jayanti, people also distribute free books to children who are not financially strong. Quizzes are also organized on Ambedkar Jayanti to increase the confidence of children and help them to show their talent in front of others.
Three days long festival (from 15th of April to 17th of April) is held at the Baba Mahashamshan Nath temple at Manikarnika ghat Varanasi where various cultural programs of dance and music are organized. Students from junior high school and primary schools make a Prabhat pheri in the morning and secondary school students take part in the rally on this day. At many places, free health check-up camps are also organized in order to provide free charge check-up and medicines to the poor group people.

Dr B.R. Ambedkar, who organised the dalits into the Depressed
Classes Association in 1930, clashed with Mahatma Gandhi at
the second Round Table Conference by demanding separate
electorates for dalits. When the British government conceded
Ambedkar’s demand, Gandhiji began a fast unto death. He believed
that separate electorates for dalits would slow down the process of
their integration into society. Ambedkar ultimately accepted Gandhiji’s
position and the result was the Poona Pact of September 1932.
It gave the Depressed Classes (later to be known as the Schedule
Castes) reserved seats in provincial and central legislative councils,
but they were to be voted in by the general electorate. The dalit
movement, however, continued to be apprehensive of the Congress-
led national movement.
